San Antonio’s First Dedicated Education Unit for Nursing Students Opens at Methodist Hospital

In partnership with the Nursing School at the University of Texas Health Science Center-San Antonio, Methodist Hospital announced the opening of the first Dedicated Education Unit in San Antonio. This unique teaching model helps optimize the learning experience of undergraduate nursing students seeking their Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Nursing.

The students are assigned to a seasoned professional registered nurse in the general and specialty surgery unit at Methodist Hospital located at 7700 Floyd Curl Drive. The students will have an opportunity to understand the expectations and outcomes of a particular unit – instead of continuously rotating through different unit that may have different processes that can lead to confusion. The Methodist Hospital staff nurses are committed to creating an environment of mutual respect, open communication and collaboration with the students. The Dedication Education Unit model will be introduced at additional hospitals throughout San Antonio in the coming months.
