In a moment that blended urgency with deep devotion yesterday, a couple exchanged heartfelt vows in an impromptu ceremony inside a hospital room at Methodist Hospital Stone Oak. Lee Tallier, the groom, was facing an unexpected open-heart surgery — a life-altering event that prompted a change in plans for the couple, whose wedding was originally scheduled for two weeks later.

Recognizing the couple’s wish to be married before the operation, the hospital staff quickly rallied to create a meaningful experience.

“When we learned about Lee’s condition and the couple’s wish to marry before surgery, our team didn’t hesitate. Everyone rallied together to make the day as meaningful and beautiful as possible,” said Catalina Garibay, director of Telemetry Unit at Methodist Hospital  Stone Oak.

The groom's best friend officiated, and his children served as witnesses, with the hospital team present to support the couple.

"I got to marry the love of my life, and with his surgery coming so soon, it just made sense to do it today," said wife, Laura Elliott.

This event highlights the compassionate care provided by the Methodist Hospital Stone Oak team, emphasizing the staff's dedication to addressing not only the medical, but also the emotional needs of their patients.

"Moments like these remind us that a hospital is not only a place of healing, but also of humanity. It was an honor for our team to help make this wedding possible for such a sweet couple," said Catalina Garibay, director of Telemetry Unit at Methodist Hospital Stone Oak.
