Methodist Healthcare and San Antonio Zoo celebrate launch of new Health Walk
San Antonio, Texas — Methodist Healthcare and San Antonio Zoo officially launched the Methodist Healthcare Health Walk with a celebratory ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday, October 29. The event marked the beginning of an ongoing partnership focused on promoting health, wellness, and family engagement within the community.
The morning kicked off with remarks from Rachel Goldsmith, CEO of Methodist Children’s Hospital, and Tim Morrow, President & CEO of San Antonio Zoo, followed by a ceremonial ribbon-cutting. Methodist Healthcare Health Ambassadors, Sean and Claudia Elliott, brought the event to life as they broke through a banner with students from Will Smith Zoo School to kick off the first official health walk.
The Methodist Healthcare Health Walk features a scenic, mile-long route through the zoo designed to inspire physical activity and mindfulness while connecting families with nature and wildlife. Guests receive a special passport highlighting four animals and fun health facts, transforming the walk into a family-friendly scavenger hunt. Participants who complete their passports can redeem a prize at the Valerie Guenther Mariposa Market.
“Methodist Healthcare is proud to collaborate with San Antonio Zoo,” said Rachel Goldsmith, CEO of Methodist Children’s Hospital. “This walk is about more than fitness; it’s about connection. Together, we’re inspiring families across San Antonio to move, learn, and grow healthier—hand in hand with our community.”
“It is an honor to partner with Methodist Healthcare for an all-new immersive walk for families and zoo guests,” said Tim Morrow, President & CEO of San Antonio Zoo. “This initiative reflects our shared commitment to building a healthier and more connected community.”
The Methodist Healthcare Health Walk is now open to zoo guests, offering everyone a fun and interactive way to stay active while exploring the zoo’s natural beauty and wildlife.
