Methodist Healthcare hospitals named among best hospitals in San Antonio and Texas
San Antonio, Texas — Methodist Hospital and Methodist Hospital Stone Oak have been named by U.S. News & World Report as a 2025-2026 Best Hospitals, ranking No. 1 and No. 3, respectively, in San Antonio. This year, U.S. News announced 504 Best Regional Hospitals across 49 states and 95 metro areas that have demonstrated superior outcomes.
Methodist Hospital ranked No. 1 in San Antonio for the second consecutive year, and tied for No. 9 in Texas. The hospital received high-performing distinctions in 18 procedures and conditions, including Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Repair, Aortic Valve Surgery, Back Surgery, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, Colon Cancer Surgery, Diabetes, Gynecological Cancer Surgery, Heart Arrhythmia, Heart Attack, Heart Bypass Surgery, Heart Failure, Hip Fracture, Kidney Failure, Knee Replacement, Leukemia, Lymphoma and Myeloma, Lung Cancer Surgery, Pacemaker Implantation, and Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement.
As part of the Methodist Hospital awards process, data was collected from multiple Methodist Healthcare System hospitals, including Methodist Children’s Hospital, Methodist Hospital Metropolitan, Methodist Hospital Northeast, Methodist Hospital Specialty and Transplant, and Methodist Hospital Texsan.

Methodist Hospital Stone Oak ranked No. 3 in San Antonio. The hospital received high-performing distinctions in 10 procedures and conditions, including Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Repair, Back Surgery, Colon Cancer Surgery, Heart Arrhythmia, Heart Attack, Heart Failure, Hip Fracture, Kidney Failure, Leukemia, Lymphoma and Myeloma, and Stroke.

U.S. News evaluated more than 4,400 hospitals across 15 adult specialties and 22 procedures and conditions; only 13% of evaluated hospitals earned a Best Hospitals designation.

To determine the Best Hospitals, U.S. News analyzed each hospital’s performance based on objective measures such as risk-adjusted mortality rates, preventable complications and level of nursing care. The Best Hospitals Specialty rankings methodology and Procedures & Conditions ratings methodology measure patient outcomes using data from over 800 million records of patient care.
