Methodist Hospital welcomes Maggie Yacoubian as new chief nursing officer
San Antonio, Texas — Methodist Hospital has announced the appointment of Maggie Yacoubian, MSN, as chief nursing officer.
“Maggie brings more than 25 years of nursing leadership experience and a proven record of driving clinical excellence,” said Ryan Simpson, CEO of Methodist Hospital. “Her strategic vision and operational expertise will strengthen our culture of safety and elevate patient care across the organization.”
Yacoubian most recently served as chief nursing officer at HCA Houston Healthcare North Cypress, where she oversaw nursing operations for the main facility and four freestanding emergency departments. During her tenure, she achieved top-decile performance in patient safety, including zero central line-associated bloodstream infections since 2021 and zero catheter-associated urinary tract infections since 2023. Under her leadership, the hospital earned multiple Healthgrades awards, including America’s Top 250 Best Hospitals and Top 100 in Critical Care.
Previously, Yacoubian held chief nursing officer roles at HCA Houston Healthcare Tomball and served as Interim CNO for Emergency Services at HCA Houston Healthcare Kingwood. Her leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic was instrumental in expanding ICU capacity, implementing surge models, and maintaining high-quality care standards. She has also led initiatives to reduce nurse turnover, improve patient throughput, and foster physician collaboration, resulting in significant gains in engagement and operational efficiency.
Earlier in her career, Yacoubian served in progressive leadership roles within HCA facilities, including assistant chief nursing officer and director of emergency services. She began her nursing career at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, where she advanced from staff nurse to nurse manager.
Yacoubian holds a Master of Science in Nursing with a focus on Management and Leadership from Western Governors University and is a graduate of HCA’s Executive Development Program and Chief Leadership Program. She is an active member of the American Organization of Nurse Executives and the American College of Healthcare Executives.
Methodist Hospital also extends its gratitude to Dr. Jane McCurley for her remarkable leadership and congratulates her on her upcoming retirement. Additionally, we celebrate Sherry Camacho as she assumes the role of division chief nursing executive, continuing her legacy of excellence and advocacy.
Yacoubian assumed her position in November and is actively leading nursing operations at Methodist Hospital.
