Methodist Hospital Texsan hosted its second annual Sunrise Celebration on September 25, honoring team members with one to four years of service for their dedication and impact in caring for patients and families.

Esther Kwon, CEO of Methodist Hospital Texsan, opened the event by thanking the attendees for their service and encouraging them to reflect on their journey, setting a tone of gratitude and growth that carried through the celebration.

“You walk through doors that require courage, compassion, and resilience every day,” said Kwon. “These first years are where your confidence continues to grow and where you begin to lay the foundation of an amazing career in healing.”

The program also included remarks from former patient Mr. Rudy Montez, a double amputee who spoke about the care he received at Texsan and the impression left by staff at every level.

“From the CEO to the guy that was cleaning the floors, everyone treated me with respect,” he said.

Montez continued by reflecting on the unique calling of healthcare workers.

“Not too many people can do what you all do,” he said. “All of us have problems in our lives, but when you get out of the car and go into the building, you put it behind you and take care of patients.”

Montez finished his remarks by encouraging the attendees to take pride in one another and the work they share.

“Be proud of where you work. Be proud of the people next to you. You are all a team, and as long as you stick together as a team, you can accomplish anything.”

The celebration concluded with a benediction led by Chaplain Renee Albracht, who offered a hand-blessing for Texsan’s healthcare team.

“May the work of your hands bring healing to all the people you touch. May God guide them to bring the healing that gives life.”

Now in its second year, the Sunrise Celebration has become a Texsan tradition — an opportunity to honor team members’ contributions and reaffirm the hospital’s commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care.
