Oscar Ochoa, MD

Dr. Ochoa received his medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in 2001, where he co-authored seminal studies involving ultrasound-assisted lipectomy and treatment of common hand infections. He commenced his surgical training at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in General Surgery. With a strong interest in research, Dr. Ochoa was granted an NIH-sponsored research fellowship to perform basic science studies in skeletal muscle physiology,

Dr Ochoa is a board certified plastic surgeon, breast reconstruction surgeon and microsurgeon, with PRMA Plastic Surgery in San Antonio, TX. He specializes in state-of-the-art breast reconstruction with a particular focus on "natural" reconstruction using the patient's own tissue (perforator flap techniques), nipple-sparing mastectomy, techniques to maximize cosmetic outcomes after breast reconstruction, and restoring sensation after mastectomy. Dr Ochoa is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, is an active member of several professional societies including the American Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery (ASRM), and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS). Dr Ochoa has dedicated his professional life to advocating for breast cancer patients.
