Callioux Birthing Center committed to supporting moms and families across the Hill Country

Fredericksburg, TX — For over 50 years, Methodist Hospital Hill Country has been dedicated to women’s health and enhancing services at the Cailloux Birthing Center. Designed with comfort, safety, and family in mind, the center offers expectant mothers personalized, high-quality care close to home.

“The Cailloux Birthing Center is more than a place to deliver; it’s a place where families and their legacies begin,” said Rene Griffin, Director of Obstetrics at Methodist Hospital Hill Country. “Our team is honored to be part of these meaningful moments, and we’re proud to offer care that reflects the warmth and strength of our community.”

Located within Methodist Hospital Hill Country, the Cailloux Birthing Center features modern Labor-Delivery-Recovery-Postpartum suites, hydrotherapy tubs, and a calming environment designed to support families through one of life’s most important moments. Since its major renovation and expansion in 2019, the center has received national recognition for clinical excellence, most recently being honored with the 2025 Women’s Choice Award for being in the top 3% of hospitals in Obstetrics.

This recognition comes on the heels of a significant national decline in obstetrics care in rural areas. According to the Rural Health Research Center, the percentage of rural hospitals without obstetric care grew from 43.1% in 2010 to 52.4% in 2022.

“Our goal is to provide safe, high-quality, and close-to-home access to maternal care for moms and families of the Hill Country. Every patient deserves compassionate care they can count on, where they live,” said Hershel Zis Weisberg, an OBGYN at Methodist Hospital Hill Country.

Each month, the hospital offers an educational class on infant care techniques such as diaper changing, bathing, safe sleeping practices, cord care, and identifying signs of jaundice for new parents and caretakers. Tours of the Obstetrics department can be scheduled by calling (830) 997-1253.
